Attn All Teams!!!
The last day to buyout a Free Agent Contract is Sunday evening 9 pm PST/12 am EST!!
You can still waiver players, just no buyouts during the playoffs!
Also a reminder for ALL playoff teams rosters are locked at 9 pm PST/12 am EST unless of any player is injured and is placed on the IL, then you can do so likewise.
Absolutely no call up/send down of players during the playoffs like MLB policies.

How can you waiver players but not buyout when the purpose of waiving someone is to buy them out..

Waivers are guaranteed contracts yes?
Buyouts are multi year guaranteed contracts that are paid off in 2024

I have been waiving everyone that I drop with the intent that they are being bought out of the contract and being paid off all this year or if they are a black contract then they are just gone

No. Regular season ends Sunday. All transactions are frozen, with the exception of IL replacements for playoff teams. After that, you can drop players but not add them. Any 1yr blue contracts will automatically be removed from your roster before the start of next season. You can also trade during the off season. I generally recommend doing no transactions during the off-season, other than trades. You'll be able to better evaluate players as we get closer to the end of spring training when both MLB and Cobra rosters finalize.

Im asking because I have a full roster & what will happen when the deGrom (now on IL) is ready to return after sunday playoff teams deadline? I think have to get him off IL within 72 hours. Can i drop guys like Moniak or Corbin (blue conctracts, 2024) to make room for him?

Max, you'll be able to make any moves necessarry when the time comes.
In this case (DeGrom) his contract could be bought out now (or before Sunday evening at 11:59 pm PST) and the Cost would be $32M total this season only) with no Cap hit after this season. If you buyout his Contract after that it would be on your team's payroll as a Guanteed contract for it's duration(2026).
Basically you could get out of a bad Contract that is guaranteed beyond 2024 without a Cap hit in future seasons. It's a great out for none playoff teams, but they'd still have to remain within the Cap limits after any requested Buyout.
Hope that makes sense & clears things up for everyone.

I think for DeGrom he was meaning he needs to activate him off IL and would need to drop someone else to make space for him and was wondering if that type of move would be OK. You basically answered that but just about the wrong person I think.

Since Nats are a playoff team, you are able to make normal roster moves until you are eliminated. So when you need to activate an IL player, you can drop a player to make room. The only restriction is you can't add any free agents unless they are replacing a player who goes on IL.
