Okay with the post after the start of the Expansion Draft, the Cubs had lost 2 SPs they had traded for and did not add them to their protected list? Obviously it was a mistake on the Cubs part as they assumed that since he was trading a Player from the Expansion Draft Protected list of the Cubs that these traded for players(Gausman & McCullers) would be protected? Well with me getting this all together I didn't even think about it and either did Jim(CHC) apparently? I sent an email out on Tuesday 3/21 reminding all GMs to check their team roster on the spreadsheet that their protected players list was correct and if they wanted to make any changes. Jim didn't reply then, but did after the Draft had started when he found out that both Gausman & McCullers got drafted. This has delayed the League into moving forward as we got this worked out and obviously it changes the whole outcome of the draft. We're redoing the Expansion Draft tonight. Cubs keep the players he traded for and the cost is this .. Cubs are fined $5 Mil in 2023, $10 Mil in 2024, lose their 2024 Rookie Draft pick to Tampa Bay and Tampa Bay will get first pick of any eligible Free Agent at the players current signed MLB contract per Cot's.
