I would like to voice my disagreement with free agent additions by non playoff teams, surely we have rules precedent for the long tenure of this league,
We should reference back to previous precedent and rules
We have been operating this year with no new additions and now allowing only for non playoffs?

I had a bid void for Danny Jansen in round 1 because I was told I could only add a FA when I put a player on IL and now non playoff teams can add players from FA? Not sure I understand but I should get Danny Jansen at a 3 year deal if I want then, shouldn’t I?

Tyler, during the playoffs all playoff teams can only bid on Free Agents when there's an open roster soot due to a player being placed on the DL, thus you would have an open roster spot to fill. As September comes some MLB teams call up prospects that are viable for the future of all teams in the league, but again playoff teams must have a spot on the expanded 28 player roster due to the DLs. You can't move a player to the Minors so you can bid on a non league franchise rookie/prospect. In all reality, playoff teams should have locked 28 player rosters for the playoffs, like MLB has in place. Rules will be reviewed and discussed with the BOD in the off-season.

Brad, that's not what I was saying, all playoff teams that have an open roster spot due to a player being put on the IL/DL are able to bid on Free Agents as well as the non playoff teams. Sorry for any confusion or misunderstandings here.

This is a matter of fairness. For non-playoff teams, the season is over. We do not allow free agent pickups once the season is over, therefore they are not eligible to bid. If they are, then they could literally affect the outcome of a playoff game by extending the bidding on players so they could not be picked up during the match, which is the reason we made the rule in the first place. On the other side of fairness, all players picked up as free agents should only be signed to 1 year contracts so that they are open to all teams next season. This way the non-playoff and playoff eliminated teams don't get penalized.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Playoff teams can bid on any Free Agent as long as they have an open roster spot due to a player being placed on the MLB IL/DL. You guys are playing for the League title now, obviously your teams are good enough or you wouldn't have made the playoffs. Some teams are just trying to get a competitive possible roster for the future and in these 2 to 3 weeks as that's all the chance they have of getting there maybe a little sooner than if their season was completely finished at the start of the playoffs. Non-playoff teams can bid on any Free Agent Rookie/Prospect as they are building their franchises for the future. Many teams in the past have been able to add a possible valuable non-league franchise prospect thanks to September call ups getting a look at the MLB level during this time. In MLB teams have a playoff roster for each series they play in. These players have to be on their 40 player roster by August 31st to be eligible for the playoffs and in reality the League should be the same. Streaming players on daily basis is not allowed in MLB, why? They have Rules on how many times a player can be called up before they have the right to refuse an assignment to the Minors after so many options of being sent to the Minors. In fact a player that is optioned to the Minors isn't able to be recalled by their MLB club until after 10 days have passed or a player is DLd creating a open roster spot. There is going to be changes starting next year, I will discuss them with the BOD during the offseason. So to give a direct answer to your question, yes non playoff teams are allowed to bid on Free Agents, only until the Sunday that the Yahoo Fantasy season ends on.

The League's non-playoff teams will not be allowed to bid on Free Agents during the playoffs. All Free Agent won contracts during Free Agent bidding during the playoffs are only 1 year deals and will be Free Agents in 2024 once Free Agency opens up in the following season. Good point by the way, and that is the end of this discussion.
