A couple of quick questions What determines the difference between a one year contract and a 3 year contract? Is that determined by the bidding process or something else ? Also are we able to bid on prospects that were eligible to be drafted but were not drafted ?

1. You decide after you win the bid if you want a 1 year or 3 year. 1 year becomes a FA at the end of the contract and 3 year players will have the option to stay signed with you for their real salary (becoming a black contract) 2. No. Can't bid on prospects without a stat line, excluding the international players I believe, Yoshinobu Yamamoto type of guys.

To clarify on the three year contract, once the three years are up, at that point you can decide whether to retain the player at his black contract salary. You cannot do this during the blue contract period.

Also 1 year contracts are only during the season which means that the Yahoo season starts on March 20th this year. Any free agent bidding that starts before March 20th is a 3 year contract automatically. The 1 year contract was done for those in season injuries so you could have a short term solution and an option for your team roster.
