Are you ready for Free Agency? Currently all teams have gotten under the Salary Cap Ceiling(SF just went over with Verlander deal) but their are 5 teams that must get above the Salary Cap Floor by the Keeper deadline of 3/16 before 12 am, now it's time to get the details on the procedures/rules.
The Free Agency Thread has all the unclaimed Waivers in it already. Locked threads are players that are not currently in Yahoo, most likely due to being MLB Free Agents and therefore until they appear in the Yahoo League player pool they will not be available for Free Agency. The starting bid in Free Agency is League minimum, and the minimum raise is $5,000. This doesn't mean you have to start the bidding at League minimum, you can start off the bidding at any amount. To win a bid your bid must be the highest for 24 hours, no set time frame for player bidding so it can go on for as long as it takes to not get out bid on. If a player is not listed in the Free Agency thread you would start a thread with the details like I have made for Barry Bonds as an example for the subject line. Post in the subject area your bid in dollars only! Once 24 hours passes on a player bid you will announce the player signing in the thread within 48 hours from the time you became the winning bid. In season you'll have an additional 24 hours to add the player onto your Yahoo roster for a grand total of 72 hours to announce the signing and add to your roster. A BOD member will add them to the spreadsheet after the announcement. Up to 3/20 all won Free Agents Contracts are guarantee for 3 years, no exceptions. Once a bid is announced it is binding and not rescindable or revocable so don't post a bid just to try to raise the player salary, it's a guaranteed contract bid and will be enforced.
What players are available for Free Agency besides the listed players currently? All players currently signed to an MLB contract with a record individual MLB stat and not on the spreadsheet of any League franchise. The only exception is this season we will make International signed players not on a League franchise available if they are listed in the Yahoo League(I will verify) and are not listed as NA in Yahoo. Minor League signed Contracts are not eligible until the are officially added to an MLB roster and lose the NA tag in Yahoo.
After March 19th you'll be ale to decide on a 1 or 3 year contract. You must announce it at the time you announce the player signing. Failure to announce within the 72 hour period it will be League approved as a 1 year deal so please make sure you follow all procedures?
You will use Yahoo to help identify eligible free agents and use the spreadsheet to confirm their availability. BOD members can explain how to use the Google sheets search feature for player availability.
Any questions? Reply to this thread asap and I or another League member can answer them asap.
Please reply after you've read it completely.
Best of luck other wise.
